Can a contractor be enrolled and excluded on the same project? -Marshall, Memphis, TN
Marshall, it can happen from time to time but is not recommended due to the difficulty of deciding if the employee was working on the enrolled or excluded portion of work. If a company has two contracts at the project site where for one project they are enrolled and the other they are excluded, it can be difficult for the insurance carrier to know for sure if the employee was working on the enrolled portion instead of their excluded portion of work. It is recommended that a contractor either be enrolled or excluded for all contracts on a project for consistent monitoring purposes.
