This quarter, CR Solutions decided to spread our involvement around the community. Instead of focusing our efforts on one cause, we provided our services to two different organizations.
On May 8th, CRS volunteered with HandsOn Atlanta at the Greater Atlanta Shoebox Project. During March and April 2013, United Way collected 40,000 shoeboxes from the community. CRS helped inspect, sort, and allocate boxes, so that 180 agencies could deliver the shoeboxes to homeless women and children around Metro Atlanta by Mother’s Day. These shoeboxes contain essential items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and more.
On May 10 and 16, CRS helped out at North Fulton Community Charities’ Thrift Store and Food Bank. NFCC accepts donations of goods and services in order to help out members of our community. The thrift store system helps locals by creating an assistance plan for each individual or family. We helped reorganize and stock the shelves, straightened up the storefront, and assisted customers. The NFCC Food Bank recently held a food drive and collected over 20 tons of food. Our hands were helpful in sorting and packing food into boxes that will be distributed to local families in need.
It was a pleasure work with HandsOn Atlanta and North Fulton Community Charities, and we plan on furthering our partnership with these organizations to keep a hands-on approach in the neighborhood.
